| The Jesuit Priest |
Most Jesuits are ordained priests and are ready to serve the Church in all the ways that priests usually do - assisting people pastorally and administering the sacraments. The Jesuit formation process also includes formation for ordination as a priest. Priestly Ordination comes during the fourth and final year of theological studies. Jesuit priests are fully ordained ministers in the Catholic Church. While some Jesuits are based in parishes, many are not directly involved in parish ministry. The work of a Jesuit has many facets, from sacramental ministry, to social and intellectual apostolates. A Jesuit priest is a minister of God who is engaged with the world wherever the Church needs them to be. Jesuit priests may also be lawyers, academics, teachers, psychologists, accountants, scientists or retreat directors. Their mission is, always and everywhere, the promotion of faith in Jesus Christ and the justice demanded by that faith. |
